UsageHints & Tips Oats can also be used as an ingredient in Oatcakes, Oat Cookies and Flapjacks. Other uses can include a coating for herrings, an alternative crumble topping or in dumplings. For the traditional Scottish dessert Cranachan, combine toasted oats with cream, berries, honey and whisky.HobFROM AMBIENT: Per person Use 40g of oat flakes to 285ml of cold water. Place the oat flakes in a saucepan, stir in the water and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 minute stirring continuously until creamy. Add sugar or salt to taste. May also be prepared with milk or milk/water mixture if preferred.
