Wine of Italy
A wine with intense aromas of apple blossom and green fruits.
Type of Closure: Synthetic Cork: Supreme
Current Vintage: NV
Producer: Schenk Italia
Grape Variety: Rkatsiteli, Pinot Grigio
Winemaker: Edigio Finazzer
Agent: Buckingham Schenk
Vinification Details: The grapes are harvested before being pressed immediately to retain freshness and to avoid any influence of tannins from the skins. After a period of cold settling, the must is fermented at low temperatures 14-17 degree C to further retain the delicate floral and fruity qualities. The wine is bottled with minimal ageing and ready to drink as fresh as possible.
History: Pinot Grigio has been grown in Fruili Grave for many years, and it makes more premium Pinot Grigio here than in other parts of Italy. The more mild climate in the Northern part of Italy allows for full expression of the delicate flavour characteristics of the grape.
Regional Information: Friuli Grave (or Grave del Friuli) is a wine DOC from Italy's north-easternmost region, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The area extends from the province of Udine in the east towards the province of Pordenone in the west and is divided east from west by the Tagliamento river. The west stretches from the foothills of the Julian Alps to the sea and borders Veneto, while the eastern side covers a huge area of the central Friuli plains.
